TRAGIC Fire Outbreak: Many Feared Dead In Lagos Pipeline Explosion

Vandals were scooping fuel from the pipeline, which belongs to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) when an argument ensued and one of them lit a fire.

A massive inferno in Lagos has claimed many lives after a vandalized pipeline burst into flames.

Vandals were scooping fuel from the pipeline, which belongs to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) when an argument ensued and one of them lit a fire, Vanguard reports.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Ijedodo area of the state on Thursday, November 6, at about 6pm.

The incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South West, Ibrahim Farinloye who said:

“There was pipeline explosion at Ijeododo this evening (Thursday).  Vandals were suspected to have broken the pipeline, scooping the product and in the process the pipeline exploded.”

An official casualty figure has not been released but scores of people are believed to have been killed in the inferno.
